The 2022 Inspire Awards recognize SASE collegiate chapters that served as a role model of inspiration, growth, and creativity throughout the 2021-2022 academic year, while exemplifying the three (3) pillars of SASE:
- Prepare Asian heritage students for success in the global business world.
- Celebrate diversity and tolerance on campuses and in the workplace.
- Provide opportunities for its members to make contributions to their local communities.
There are five (5) award categories. A chapter may apply for a maximum of two (2) award categories.
MOST IMPROVED CHAPTER
This category will be awarded to the chapter that displayed the greatest growth, change, and improvement over the past academic year.
MOST INFLUENTIAL CHAPTER
This category will be awarded to the nominated chapter that made the greatest positive influence in their community, region, and nation.
MOST PHILANTHROPIC CHAPTER
This category will be awarded to the chapter that demonstrated and embodied the greatest spirit of service within their chapter, community, region, and nation.
OUTSTANDING NEW CHAPTER
This category will be awarded to the chapter that made outstanding contributions and advancements of SASE’s three (3) core mission statements. This chapter must have been founded within the last 2 years.

OVERALL STRONGEST CHAPTER
This category will be awarded to the chapter that made outstanding contributions and advancements of SASE’s three (3) core mission statements. This chapter must have exhibited sustainability for at least one (1) year.
Nomination Deadline - March 20, 2022
An individual may nominate more than one chapter. However, nominations for your own chapter will be disregarded.
Application Deadline - April 30, 2022
A SASE chapter is eligible to apply for an Inspire Award if they met the following criteria within June 1, 2021 – June 7, 2022:
Have an active President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer on the Executive Board
Have a minimum of 6 active SASE members, excluding the Executive Board
Offered at least four (4) activities, programs, or events that further the SASE mission statement
Completed at least two (2) individual chapter calls with their Regional Coordinator.
Previous recipients are eligible.
Your application must meet the following requirements:
Use 12 pt font with 1” margins
Have a Cover Page, including a brief abstract and photo of the current Executive Board
Use a maximum of 1 page per question
Do not include an Appendix
We highly recommend to include pertinent, quantifiable, and concise information that illustrates why your chapter deserves the award(s) you are applying for. Metric examples include:
Event attendance and membership growth
Internships, co-ops, and jobs obtained through your chapter
Supporting images (e.g. photos, graphs)
Be sure your application addresses the below questions:
How has your chapter prepared Asian heritage scientists and engineers for success in the global business world?
How has your chapter celebrated diversity on campus and in the workplace?
How has your chapter provided opportunities for its members to make contributions to their local communities?
What is the one event, program, or initiative your chapter is most proud of?
What kind of impact have you made within your community, region, and nation?
Based on the award(s) your chapter is applying for, answer the following:
Most Improved Chapter — How has your chapter improved throughout the academic year? Based on your learnings, how has your chapter set a foundation for success in the upcoming academic year?
Most Influential Chapter — Why do you think your chapter was nominated? Why does your chapter deserve this nomination? In what ways has your chapter made a positive influence to the local community, the region, and the nation?
Most Philanthropic Chapter — What is your chapter’s vision for service? How has your chapter fulfilled this vision? In what ways did your chapter demonstrate this commitment to your community? Specify the key programs and activities from the academic year.
Outstanding New Chapter — As a new chapter, what was the greatest challenge your chapter overcame? How did your chapter overcome this challenge, and what did your chapter learn? How will your chapter use this experience moving forward for continued success?
Overall Strongest Chapter — What makes your chapter the strongest SASE chapter in the nation? How is your chapter set up for sustainability and continued growth?
Using these magazine-style guidelines, provide a summary of your chapter’s accomplishments. Include success tips for other chapters, using a maximum of 300 words. If selected as an award winner, the summary will be used to feature your chapter in the SASE Magazine. You can review previous winning chapters’ summaries here.
To submit your application, follow these steps:
Upload your application as a PDF file by April 30, 2022, at 11:59 PM local time.
Upload a chapter photo for the SASE Magazine that meets these requirements.
Recipients will be asked to upload a highlight video to be added to the SASE National Youtube channel. You may want to create and submit your video now while you are still engaging with your members and to save time this summer. You can also plan on using this video as a recruitment tool on your campus.
